Equine Partners Veterinary Service is hiring an Associate Veterinarian. We are a two doctor practice in Waller, Texas with 100% equine clientele. One hour outside of Houston and a 45- minute drive to Bryan/College Station, we are close to the amenities of the city with a small town feel.

 Equine Partners Veterinary Service is hiring an Associate Veterinarian. We are a two doctor practice in Waller, Texas with 100% equine clientele. One hour outside of Houston and a 45- minute drive to Bryan/College Station, we are close to the amenities of the city with a small town feel. 

The practice is a mix of ambulatory and in clinic, where we have a 17-acre facility, and a 10,000 sq. foot barn and clinic with climate controlled exam rooms, radiology, and surgery suite. Equipment includes in-house CBC, Chemistry, SAA, microbiology, nucleocounter, cryopreservation, 3M video gastroscope and upper airway/hysterscope, portable fiberscope, Logic E and M-Turbo ultrasounds, digital radiography, shockwave, Pro-stride, Bovie electrocautery, HDE floats, foal alert, video-monitored stalls and two fully-stocked ambulatory vehicles. 

Our work is heavy on reproductive services, provided almost exclusively in clinic, and includes mare care, stallion services, foaling out, embryo transfer, and semen freezing. Additionally, we offer elective surgeries in house (would consider expanding surgical services) and refer colic surgeries. Sports medicine, dentistry, and preventive medicine make up the balance of the caseload. Emergency duties are shared evenly with a second local practice. 

EPVS is staffed with an office manager and five technical support staff. Equine Sports Medicine & Surgery’s Weatherford Division, PLLC (“ESMS”) has an immediate opportunity at our busy referral hospital in Weatherford, Texas for a full-time Veterinary Surgery/Anesthesia and Outpatient Technician. 

The anticipated work schedule will be five (5) 8-hour weekdays -OR- four (4) 10-hour weekdays, with rotating on-call duty. 

Established in 2002 ESMS is a large multiple-veterinarian equine practice offering services including ICU & critical care, hospitalization, 24-hour emergencies, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, surgery, lameness, reproduction, ambulatory, dentistry, and wellness. 

We have an excellent team, including CVTs, LVTs, RVTs and a large, well-trained support staff. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • • Provide effective communication and technical support to veterinarians, surgeons, and other staff members in the delivery of primary care, diagnostic services, and disease control. Essential care duties include, but are not limited to, administering treatments, preparing medications, and taking physicals.

  • • Observe patients’ comfort and needs, alerting doctors of any problems.

  • • Assist with surgical procedures o Prepare the operating room, placement of patient, and preparation of the surgical site

  • o Provide support in anesthesia for routine and complex cases by preparing and maintaining patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems

  • o Maintain complete and accurate anesthesia medical records

  • • Restrain patients.

  • • Assist with after hour emergencies.

  • • Assist in the Hospital barn, ICU, Outpatient and Ambulatory areas.

  • • Assist in routine lameness exams and sterile joint preparations.

  • • Jog with horse in hand.

  • • Assist in other areas of the hospital as directed.

  • • May require working alternate shifts, holidays, weekends, or “on-call-duty” to ensure hospital operations are sufficient.

Qualifications: 

  • • Minimum of 2 years’ Equine veterinary practice experience, required.

  • • Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT or RVT) preferred.

  • • One-year Equine Anesthesia experience, preferred.

  • • Extensive knowledge of all anesthesia supplies, equipment, and monitoring, preferred.

  • • Excellent veterinary nursing skills.

  • • Ability to place intravenous/arterial catheters and to perform endotracheal intubation for veterinary patients.

  • • Ability to understand verbal and written instructions.

  • • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • • Ability to work independently.

  • • Ability to safely move and handle up to 75 lbs.

  • • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment

  • • Team-oriented, self-motivated and positive individual with strong work ethics.

  • • Excellent horse-handling, communication, customer service, and organizational skills.

  • • Ability to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Texas Equine Hospital is seeking a full-time Equine Associate Veterinarian. 

Texas Equine Hospital is located in Central Texas.  Our hospital is a full service primary care and referral/second opinion hospital.  Texas Equine Hospital is an exclusively equine practice focusing on sports medicine and surgery (orthopedic and soft tissue), in addition to being a full service facility treating a wide range of primary care cases. We see around 15,000 horses a year. Our veterinarians  treat a wide array of disciplines including western performance, rodeo, racing, dressage, hunter/jumper, pleasure, polo, endurance and companion horses.

We have 2 boarded surgeons, 2 general practitioner, 4 interns, 20+ technicians, 10 office staff/administrative support staff.  The hospital has a fully equipped surgical suite, three recovery rooms, two imaging rooms, five exam rooms, pharmacy, lab, reception area, two apartments, and a conference/surgery viewing room.  A covered 60 x 120 asphalt area is used for lameness evaluations. Adjacent to the main building is a 12 stall barn with 1 exam room used for dental work plus 30 outdoor covered stalls. There is also a climate controlled barn that has four ICU stalls and two Isolation stalls. Our imaging capabilities include upper respiratory video endoscopy, video gastroscopy, ultrasonography, and digital radiography.  We provide 24-hour care for foals and adult horses in our climate controlled intensive care unit and isolation facility.

This position will be general veterinary care for daily appointments, care for hospitalized patients plus some ambulatory work.  We have an Emergency Clinician who does 60% of the emergency duty.  The remaining emergency caseload is shared on a rotational schedule.   Appointments are scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.  Emergencies are seen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Must have a DVM or equivalent degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary school, passed the NAVLE and Texas State boards.  Also need to be eligible for USDA accreditation and to be authorized to work in the USA.  

Starting salary is based upon experience level. A base salary is provided that becomes production based  (21% commission) as the applicant accrues a caseload beyond the base salary.
